I think you have a good point. I suggest you make your request a 'User Requirement' by going to:

and enter the information. This is timely as there is going to be a 'G4 Technical Forum' meeting soon at CERN on March 8:

I wish I could spend the time right now to understand clearly your particular application but from what you wrote it seems to be something that we developers of G4 have not previously considered as far as I know.

I agree, spin tracking does not have to deal with changing magnitudes. In fact, the spin component is assumed to be a unit vector.
