I need to place a magnetic field in a volume. I am a Geant novice so a step by step
approach would be much appreciated.

I want to apply a local uniform transverse magnetic field in my logical volume, but
I do not know how to go about doing so. I would like to control its strength via a
detector messenger and I already have that taken care of. I just need to know how to
apply a field to a logical volume. I have tried to follow some of the other postings
regarding this topic on the HyperNews forum, but when I do so the results are dismal
and it doesn't work.

Thanks,
Matthew Middione
