Hi I just ran in to this and have not checked it out toughly yet. But someone else might have stumbled upon this and know where I've made a mistake, or if it's a bug

I'm currently running Geant4.9.6.p01 on a Ubuntu 12:04 x64 with kernel version 3.2.0-37. I've compiled novice example N02 using cmake.

The example compiles and runs well with the vis.mac file included.

I've written two .mac-files to illustrate the problem.

First file: proton.mac /tracking/verbose 1 /gun/particle proton /gun/energy 10 MeV /run/beamOn 1

I pipe the output to a file and afterwards, I can reed the following:

### Run 0 start.

Seems ok!

Second file: ion.mac /tracking/verbose 1 /gun/particle ion /gun/ion 2 4 2 /gun/energy 10 MeV /run/beamOn 1

Output then however yields: ### Run 0 start.

and it continues on like this in an infinite loop... A step length of 5.83e+288 pc seems slightly long....

I've also noticed in the output files that no processes are registered for He3, alpha, or genericIons.

Modifying ExN02 by using the PhysicsList from ExN03, example N02 works with ions as well.

I've attached the 2 output files(from un-modified N02), there are no more commands in the mac-files than the ones I included above.
