Usually .in files are input macros and .out files the examples output from running the example with the .in macro.
Eg. for basic example B1:
exampleB1 exampleB1.in > exampleB1.out
For the other macros provided, which name is different from the example name (run1.mac, run2.mac), the reference output is not included in the distribution.
