Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. If you are only interested in one thread or the thread following a specific posting, click the thread or the posting, which takes you to a smaller page, which contains only the part you are interested in and may be easier to navigate.
Messages are "chained" if there are only replies at the first level, i.e. 1/1.html, 1/1/1.html etc. In case of "chained" messages the message number is replaced by the icon and there is no indentation.

I have done the installation of Geant440 (Release February 2002) on Debian Linux (Potato, Kernel 2.2.19). Using clhep-126.96.36.199.tar.gz, the compilation was ok, no errors.
However, I have two unresolved questions:
First. Then, under the root account, I tried running exampleN01. Using the command, "gmake" on "../N01" directory, compilation was ok. Then I invoke the the command: "$G4WORKDIR/bin/Linux-g++/exampleN01". Good, there was an execution. But why is it that I cannot see an output file, "exampleN01.out"? All I have was the old output file.
Second. I tried also ExampleN03 using the root account. With DAWN installed, I saw the graphical output. Perfect. But, when I change an ordinary-user-account, it failed at the middle of the execution. (But compilation was ok, for this user account). The last portion of the error was something like this:
/vis/viewer/update viewer_0 ERROR: Failed to generate file g4_00.prim # # for drawing the tracks # (if too many tracks cause core dump ==> StoreTrajectory 0) # /tracking/StoreTrajectory 1 /vis/scene/endOfEventAction accumulate
Any idea/hint, please... What was wrong? How will I proceed?
Thank you very much.
