Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. If you are only interested in one thread or the thread following a specific posting, click the thread or the posting, which takes you to a smaller page, which contains only the part you are interested in and may be easier to navigate.
Messages are "chained" if there are only replies at the first level, i.e. 1/1.html, 1/1/1.html etc. In case of "chained" messages the message number is replaced by the icon and there is no indentation.
Inline: Display the subject line only or also the text of the posting(s); for the choice "All" the "Outline" choices are switched off.
|1||0||1||no text / full text of posting|
|2||1||All||text for level 1 only / text for All postings|
Outline: Choose the depth of the posting thread, successive toggle controls provide increasing detail.
|1||2||1||2 levels / 1 level (original posting)|
|2||3||2||3 levels / 2 levels|
|3||3||All||3 levels / all levels (all postings)|
HI, it seems from your traceback that the problem occurs the first time you attempt to open a window on the screen. This is not a problem I have seen before, so you may need to do some additional tests to help to diagnose the problem.
First can you check that your X-server is running properly and that your DISPLAY environment variable is set properly. The easiest way is to issue a command such as:
and verify that a clock appears on your screen.
If that works the next thing to test is whether java itself is installed and working. You could try this:
export JDK_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.3.1_02 # modify to the path where you installed Java export PATH=$JDK_HOME/bin:$PATH java -jar $JDK_HOME/demo/jfc/SwingSet2/SwingSet2.jar
A demo Java GUI should appear on the screen. (You may get bunch of messages regarding missing points, but you can ignore them).
Please let me know if these tests do/do not work, or if you discover any problems in running them. If they do work and you still have problems running the Geant4 demo I will suggest more tests to try.
Also can you tell me which of the two pre-built versions of Geant4 on the CD you used (egcs or gcc), and which compiler you have installed (gcc -v).
