Thanks. Looking at $G4INSTALL/env.[c]sh it looks like this should
happen automatically, but it didn't. It seems that Configure does
not clean up, and leaves environment variables set. So one must
log out and log in between Configure and using geant4. And also
before attempting to reinstall with different Configure values -- 
this was quite confusing until I noticed it. Though I don't 
understand how that happened (and might be confused)....

It's working now for me. Thanks.
