HI, assuming that you are using JAIDA as your AIDA implementation then the problem is that right now we only support reading hbook files, not writing them. There is no terribly good reason for this, we just assumed people would want to read old paw files, but not create new ones. We could add support if there is sufficient demand (and I have seen several such requests on this list).

I am somewhat surprised that you do not get an error when you call tree->commit() -- perhaps you are using an old version of JAIDA?
