None Range of Particle = Track Length of particle in G4 ?

Dear all

According to NIST (http://physics.nist.gov/PhysRefData/Star/Text/appendix.html)

Projected range is defined as the average value of the depth to which a charged particle will penetrate in the course of slowing down to rest. This depth is measured along the initial direction of the particle.

Now my question is how to calculate this range for the primary particle only in G4,

is it ok to capture the tracklength of the primary particle, in PostUserTrackingAction method of USerTrackingAction class !
