Question G4mpi -> How To

Forum: Multithreading

Good day all,

I have a question regarding how to use G4mpi with Geant4.10.1. First of all I have successfully installed all necessary packages to use G4mpi. My question is in regards to example exMPI01, in the README file which comes with the example it has information regarding how to build your executable, which is fine I can use the following provided information to build the executable, as shown below,

> mkdir build
> cd build
> cmake -DG4mpi_DIR=<where-G4mpi-wasintalled>/lib[64]/G4mpi -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=mpicxx \
  -DGeant4_DIR=<your Geant4 install path>/lib[64]/Geant4-V.m.n <path-to-source>
  (V.m.n is the version of Geant4, eg. Geant4-9.6.0)
> make
> make install

My problem is now how to I tell the code which computers to run the code on? This part does not seem to be provided anywhere in the example, and I can't seem to find any explicit information on how this is done? For simplicity let's say I wish to run the code on two seperate compuiters, do I need to provide the code with the IP address of each computer so that the code can be run on each computer? IF so how do I do this?

If anyone has any more detailed information on how to use G4mpi, including details on how to specify the computers which the code will be run on I'd grealty appreciate it.

Cheers,

Dylan
