Click on the Forum title, e.g. on the "Forums by Category" page, to read a sequence of postings to the Forum and its threads all in one page. Dear Geant4 experts!
Our research work is measurements of soil carbon using neutron-gamma analysis (14 MeV neutron source and NaI(Tl) detector). I simulate our measurements using Geant4.10.01.p01. I use QGSP_BERT_HP, QGSP_BIC_HP physics and JNDL-4 and G4NDL4.5 neutron data libraries. At least 10^8 events are required to receive the suitable accuracy. It takes about 10 hours on the conventional laptop in sequential mode.
To decrease the simulation time I supposed to use a multithread mode of simulation on cluster computer. Now I found that multithread mode have some limitation regarding Neutron HP – “Neutron-HP works only with small number of threads. We suggest to use this physics option in the sequential mode” (https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/Geant4/QuickMigrationGuideForGeant4V10).
What is your opinion regarding of my problem migration in multithread mode? Will I have the simulation time reduction from this migration? If possible, could you give some recommendation for simulation time reduction in my case?
