Yes, what you propose makes sense. I think at this point is really up to you: if you have only the small issue we are discussing here, it is probably easier to add a static data member as in my previous mail. But if you want something more general and that can be extended in the future, what you propose makes sense.

The instance of your concrete G4run class for the master thread, will not have the beam energy initialized (because there is no primary action), however in the merge step it can exactly get from one of the workers the value that is needed.
