I have some questions regarding using Xeon Phi coprocessors. Thanks in advance for any help people offer.
1- Do you need a powerful CPU to support the Xeon Phi coprocessor with Geant4? If so are there any guidelines that we should go by such as a number of CPU cores for each Xeon Phi, memory for each Xeon Phi, etc…
2- The Xeon Phi card does not have access to the memory on the system right? If that is true the Xeon Phi does not have large amounts of memory especially for that number of cores. What needs to be done if anything to optimize the memory usage?
2- You can get 2 or 3 Xeon Phi 3120 cards for the price of a Xeon Phi 7120. Is there a reason why the 7120 should be chosen over the 3120? I am assuming that the 180 cores of the 3 3120 is faster than the single 7120.
4- Anything else that I should consider in setting up a computer for calculations?
Thanks you, Jamie
