It's strange that your system allowed you to build an OGLIX driver but could not provide a visual. I too own a Mac and never had any trouble. I know that with OS X 10.4 you had to install X Windows separately. It's on the installation disk. If you don't have that you might be able to get it from XFree86 or macports.

I am currently using OS X 10.5 (Leopard). X11 is packaged (you don't have to install it separately) but the packaged version is out of date and you should get an up to date version from
