None OGLIXm leads to "X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)"

Hi,

I run an GEANT4 executable in a remote machine from either my laptop running Windows (with Xmanager as the XWindow emulator) or my Desktop running Linux (RedHat ws3).

Both seems Ok if I use OGLIX/OGLSX, but if I use OGLIXm/OGLSXm, it seems to run OK in my laptop (Xmanager/XWindows) but I start from my Linux box, it'd crash and say:

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 1 (X_CreateWindow)
Serial number of failed request: 124
Current serial number in output stream: 193

I attach more error messages below. Any idea what I should do in my Linux box ?

In case it's not clear, I actually ssh from my laptop (windows) or desktop (Linux) to the remote machine and run the GEANT4 executable there.

We think it might be a problem of duplicate intallations of Motif, perhaps lesstif and OpenMotif, for example, and you are taking the header files of one and the libraries of another. I will copy more information by email directly. If this helps you sort it out, please post an acknowledgement to this hypernews thread.

Hi,

I've tried various stuff like the following ( something in the "requirements" file of our cmt setup).

set OGLLIBS "-lGLU -lGL -lXm -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXmu" set OGLLIBS "-lGLU -lGL -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXmu" set OGLLIBS "-lGLU -lGL -lXm"

Is there anyway I may try to fix this Lesstif or OpenMotif mismatch ? Somehow this may have something to do with the fact that I compiled in one machine and view in another machine ??

All crashed in the same way that I reported:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 1 (X_CreateWindow)
Serial number of failed request: 122
Current serial number in output stream: 191

In Windows with Xmanager, it'd crash later when I tried to create the .eps and the error message is :
X Error of failed request: GLXBadContextState
Major opcode of failed request: 136 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
Serial number of failed request: 1591
Current serial number in output stream: 1591

Hi,

It's with OGL*Xm, not with OGL*X. Actually, at the end, I also had a crash in the Windows XManager when I tried to to make the ".eps" file.

The Linux box A that I'm viewing the GEANT4 (which is run in another Linux box B with a slightly favor) has the following if I do "uname -a" : Linux yipkin.c-ad.bnl.gov 2.4.21-47.0.1.EL #1 Fri Oct 13 18:04:55 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

If I compile/run GEANT4 as a simple example (N03) in the above Linux box, all those OGL*Xm can run OK.

So, in the Linux box B (which I have to use to run a complicated/big GEANT4 project for our collaboration
has the following for the "uname -a" command:
   Linux coop 2.6.9 #1 SMP Fri Dec 3 14:13:05 EST 2004 i686 GNU/Linux

There, I have set "OGLLIBS" :

set OGLLIBS "-lGLU -lGL -lXm -lMrm -lICE -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXmu -lXpm -lXmu -lXt -lXext -lX11 -lSM"

Maybe, I could take away some or most of them to see whether I still have this problem.
