Dear Francesco,

With my ex PhD student Valentina Giacometti  we worked with the extended example DICOM. 

We never tested the DCMK approach, but it looks very similar to the default one.  In general for the visualisation we have done the following.  If the compression value is high (16 or 64) for initial testing purposes with 1-3 slices, OPENGL can still be used. When processing lots of slices with low compression value (1, 2 or 4)  we used successfully DAWN. Said this, we never tried to use gMocren.
