Question Relationship between the voxel size and the voxel number

Hi users!

I changed the size of phantom to 40cm*40cm*40cm.

And changed the size of detector to 40cm*40cm*40cm.

To detect energy deposit in each voxel, which is 1cm, I changed the voxel sizes(x,

y, and z).

So, I got a 3D DoseDistribution.out file.

Here, I got a question.

I fount that the voxel number is from 0 to 79.(maybe the final number is 80).

I was confused why the voxel number reached 80 not 40.

In my opinion, the final voxel number should be 40. (1cm * 40 voxels = 40 cm)

In HadrontherapyDetectorConstruction.cc file, I found that

        numberOfVoxelsAlongX = lrint(2 * detectorSizeX / sizeX);
        sizeOfVoxelAlongX = (2 * detectorSizeX / numberOfVoxelsAlongX );

I can't understand why we should multiply 2.

The length of each voxel is the same with voxel size? or half of the voxel size?
