Question Antiproton annihilation cross section

Forum: Hadronic Processes
Date: 06 Apr, 2009
From: Kirill Skovpen <Kirill Skovpen>

Dear all,

I'm simulating antiprotons to interact with hydrogen target(H2) at very low energies, that is 10-400 MeV/c. For antiproton momentum < 80 MeV/c there is a significant change in antiproton annihilation cross section that is in disagreement with OBELIX. For antiproton momentum > 80 MeV/c simulation results are in agreement with OBELIX experimental data. If I understand it right, inelastic interactions of antiproton with matter remain unchanged since GEANT3? Could you please suggest any PhysicsList or Inelastic model for my task to simulate such low energy antiprotons? Thank you in advance.

Hello Kirill,

You probably is right about the default cross section. At the same time, it is possible to use a specific cross section per particle type and energy range.
