Question Alpha-particles calorimetry at high energies (>10 Gev/n)

Forum: Hadronic Processes

From: Nikolay Nikonov <Nikolay Nikonov>

Dear colleagues, I'm doing simulation of hadronic processes for alphas in tungsten calorimeter in wide energy range (0.2-300 GeV/n). To do it I use binary cascade model (physics list QGSP_BIC_HP). The problem that binary cascade works only up to 10 GeV/n and then I observe significant difference with real data.

Can you propose me a model, which is able to work above this energy region please? I need few alternatives to try. What about Geant4-DPMJET interface? Is it implemented already?

Nikolay.

Hello Nikolay,

Probably, DPMJET is what you need, the interface was recently developed but not yet well known even inside G4. I will leave the possibility to answer how to use this interface to experts.

What would be useful is to show us the problem for high energy alpha interactions or to point to the published data.
