Dear Peter,

Sorry, please disregard my previous question, as I miss-interpreted your reply. I thought you meant I don't need the TrackInformation class at all in my code, just the SteppingAction... Now I read your message more carefully and I think I understood your ideea: just use the stepping action to put the track info into the parent pion tracks, use the postUserTrackingAction to pass the information to the resulting muon and then in my steppingaction get the information from the parent pion.

Now in your message you selected the pions decaying in flight to put the track info in. But I am interested in the pions decaying at rest, so I replaced the line

if(theTrack->GetKineticenergy()>0.)

with

if(theTrack->IsBelowThreshold()

as Tom suggested.
